Finland in NATO: Türkiye ratified the country’s application

Thus, Finland’s application was agreed upon by all 30 member countries of the alliance.

Turkish Parliament March 30 ratified Finland’s accession to NATO. This was reported by Reuters.

The publication notes that the Turkish Parliament approved a bill allowing Finland to join the North Atlantic Alliance. The decision was supported by 276 Turkish deputies.

Thus, Türkiye became the last country to ratify Finland’s accession to the Alliance. March 27 a similar decision was made by the Hungarian Parliament.

Recall that Finland applied for NATO membership at the same time as Sweden. However Sweden’s application has not yet been approved by either Hungary or Türkiye. Both countries have claims to Sweden. In particular, Hungary accuses Sweden of ‘terrible attitude’ and “constant undermining of relations”. A Türkiye demands to extradite Kurds who have political asylum thereand explains this by saying that “Sweden must take action on such fundamental issues as the fight against terrorism.”
