Russell, 32, will miss the game as of his recent club success with Bath, who clinched their first english Premiership title in 29 years against Leicester Tigers last Saturday. Russell only joined the Lions camp this week, prompting coach Andy farrell to favor players with a full two weeks of planning.
Other absences from the Lions Squad
Several other players are also unavailable for selection due to their involvement in the Premiership final. Bath’s Will Stuart and Leicester’s Ollie Chessum will sit out the match. Farrell also limited the selection of leinster players who joined the squad this week following their URC title win.
