Firecrackers exploded in the temple grounds; Three arrested bursting crackers

Thrissur: Three persons have been arrested for exploding Chinese firecrackers at the Vadakkunnatha temple ground in Thrissur. Aji and Shijab from Kottayam and Naveen from Elthuruth, Thrissur were arrested. The incident took place at 8.30pm on Friday.

A three-member team reached the car near the shed where Thiruvambadi’s ammunition was kept and exploded firecrackers. ACP PK Raju, who was walking in the temple grounds at the time, saw the firecrackers exploding. The police tried to repel him but he was not apprehended at first. Later, more police arrived and subdued the three.

Police said all three were under the influence of alcohol. The three had not come to see the Thrissur Pooram shooting. Naveen is a firecracker dealer. It is learned that the firecrackers left over for Vishu were brought here and exploded. The accused are being questioned.
