First Hydrogen to Hold Track Day for Testing Hydrogen-Electric Commercial Vehicles

First Hydrogen, a hydrogen integrated solutions company with headquarters in Vancouver, Canada and London, England, has announced plans to hold a track day event for testing its hydrogen-electric light commercial vehicle van. The event is scheduled to take place at the HORIBA MIRA track in England in late October.

A track day, typically associated with motor racing, allows regular drivers to freely drive their vehicles on the track. This specific event is open to operators of large UK light commercial vehicle (LCV) fleets, including members of the Aggregate Hydrogen Freight Consortium (AHFC). AHFC, in collaboration with major vehicle operators and the government, aims to accelerate the commercialization of hydrogen electric vehicles and the development of charging infrastructure to reduce carbon emissions from long-haul medium vans and trucks.

During the event, First Hydrogen also plans to provide a technology presentation and vehicle tour to discuss the feasibility of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEVs) as zero-emission vehicles.

First Hydrogen highlights that its hydrogen van has undergone road testing with British vehicle management specialist RIVUS and energy services company SSE. Additionally, the company has secured demand for hydrogen vans through partnerships with more than 15 large fleet operators. The hydrogen van is said to have a range of approximately 630 km (400 miles) on a single refueling, an achievement proven in tests conducted with SSE in August.

According to global market research firm Allied Market Research, the global LCV market is projected to reach $786.5 billion by 2030.

Steve Gill, CEO of First Hydrogen, emphasizes the importance of the event in providing fleet managers with a firsthand experience of FCEVs and their comparative advantages to other alternative fuel vehicles. Gill further suggests the possibility of conducting similar drive events for potential customers in North America.

In related news, First Hydrogen recently signed a feasibility study agreement with engineering consultant Sacré-Davey Engineering to develop a 35MW green hydrogen production facility and hydrogen vehicle assembly plant in Shawinigan, Quebec, Canada.

[월간수소경제 성은숙 기자] First Hydrogen, a hydrogen integrated solutions company headquartered in Vancouver, Canada and London, England, announced on the 16th (local time) that it will hold a track day to test drive its hydrogen-electric light commercial vehicle van.

This event is scheduled to take place at the HORIBA MIRA track in England at the end of October.

A track day refers to a day at a motor racing track where ordinary drivers freely drive their vehicles around the track.

This event is open to operators of large UK light commercial vehicle (LCV) fleets, including members of the Aggregate Hydrogen Freight Consortium (AHFC). AHFC is working with major vehicle operators and government to rapidly commercialize hydrogen electric vehicles and hydrogen charging infrastructure to decarbonise long-haul medium vans and trucks.

First Hydrogen also plans to provide an opportunity to discuss the feasibility of an FCEV as a zero emission vehicle through a technology presentation and vehicle tour.

First Hydrogen explained that its hydrogen van has been tested on the road with the British vehicle management specialist, RIVUS and the energy services company SSE, and that it cooperates with large parcel delivery companies. He added that demand for hydrogen vans has already been secured through more than 15 large fleet operators.

It has also been said that it can travel around 630 km (400 miles) with another refueling. Previously, in August, First Hydrogen announced that it had achieved this record in tests carried out with SSE.

According to global market research firm Allied Market Research, the size of the global LCV market is expected to reach $786.5 billion by 2030.

“This event gives fleet managers the opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat and understand the scope, use cases and benefits of FCEVs compared to other alternative fuel vehicles,” said Steve Gill, CEO of First Hydrogen. “There is a possibility of maintaining similarities. drive events to potential customers in North America.”

Meanwhile, in July, First Hydrogen signed a feasibility study contract with engineering consultant Sacré-Davey Engineering to develop a 35MW green hydrogen production facility and hydrogen vehicle assembly plant in Shawinigan, Quebec, Canada.
