Flood Alert: Mae Ngad Dam on Brink of Overflow, Chiang Mai City Next in Line for Deluge
Mae Ngat Sombun Chon Dam Water Expected to Overflow Tonight
Only 54 centimeters left, Mae Ngat Sombun Chon Dam Water is expected to overflow the emergency building at 1:00 tonight, arriving in Chiang Mai city around 17:00.
Water Level Update
On September 25, 2024, Mr. Chalermkiat Inthakanok, Director of Mae Faek-Mae Ngat Somboonchon Water Supply and Maintenance Project, Chiang Mai, revealed that now there are still 54 centimeters left, the water will overflow from the emergency spillway building or emergency spillway from the analysis. The amount of water entering the dam is 6 centimeters per hour. It is expected to be around 1 am.
Preparations to Minimize Damage

Affected Areas
After the water overflow in the emergency drainage building, only 3 subdistricts, namely Inthakhin Subdistrict, Cholae Subdistrict and Ban Pao Subdistrict, will be affected. The water in the Ping River will rise by another 20-50 centimeters, by which time the water level at P.75 Ban Cho Lae, Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province, which comes from Chiang Dao, will have already decreased. And the water overflowing from the emergency building tonight is expected to reach P.1 Nawarat Bridge, Mueang District, Chiang Mai Province, around 5:00 pm tomorrow.

Monitoring and Analysis Center
In this regard, the Mae Faek – Mae Ngat Sombun Chon Water Supply and Maintenance Project A center has been set up to analyze and monitor the water situation 24 hours a day to prepare for any situation.
