Fog covers Hanoi, the air quality is very bad on the last day of the year

Fog continued in the North on December 31, with visibility reduced to only 300m. In Hanoi, an alarmingly high air pollution index can be recorded.

The National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting said that on December 31, many places in the Northeast continued to have dense fog, especially in the early morning. This phenomenon occurs because the area is affected by a weakening cold air mass, and at the same time the southeast wind brings moisture inland.

In Hanoi, the area continues to be covered by thick fog, the air quality is very bad, harmful to human health.

Also on the last day of 2023, light rain appeared in the early morning, causing high humidity and making it difficult for pollutants to diffuse. This condition will improve at noon and afternoon, when the sun is shining.

Northerners will experience the last day of 2023 with warm weather and little rain. However, fog can reduce visibility to less than 300m, especially in mountainous and midland areas, making it difficult for people to travel in the early morning.

In the Central region, thunderstorms appear concentrated from Ha Tinh to Binh Dinh with a probability of over 70%. Other places had only light, scattered rain.

Notably, the temperature in the South increased rapidly today. Localized heat can occur when the highest temperature reaches 35 degrees Celsius. The area has little risk of rain, making it convenient for people to participate in outdoor activities during the holiday season.
