The Seoul Central District Prosecutors Office’s Women and Children Crime Investigation Department has announced the arrest and charges against Mr. Hwang’s sister-in-law, Mr. A, under the Sexual Violence Punishment Act and the Serious Punishment for Certain Offenses Act.

Mr. A, claiming to be Hwang’s ex-boyfriend, allegedly shared photos and videos of Hwang and women on social media, accusing Hwang of having relationships with multiple women. Additionally, Mr. A is accused of sending threatening messages to Hwang, indicating the intention to release the material.

The prosecution has conducted a supplementary investigation, which confirmed Mr. A’s involvement in distributing Hwang’s private video and threatening him to withdraw the complaint. In efforts to prevent secondary damage, specific criminal charges have not been disclosed, and measures have been taken to delete the distributed video.

Aside from this case, the police are also investigating Mr. Hwang for alleged illegal filming of a sexual partner, in which Mr. Hwang claims consent was given, while the victim denies consenting to the filming.
