Coaches from the Daegu University football team are in their prime. According to Daegu University on the 8th, coach Kim Sang-sik, who was recently appointed as the coach of the Vietnam national football team and the national under-23 team and will continue the ‘Park Hang-seo Magic’, a former member of the university football team. Coach Kim signed a contract to appoint a coach with the Vietnam Football Association and will lead the Vietnam national football team for two years until March 2026.

As a former Jeonbuk professional football coach, he rose to the ranks of great players by winning the K-League title and advancing to the semi-finals of the Asian Football Confederation Champions League (ACL).

Expectations are high that he will lead another football sensation from Vietnam, following in the footsteps of coach Park Hang-seo, who led the craze for Korean coaches in Southeast Asian football. Coach Taeha Park, another member of the Daegu University football team, was appointed coach of the prestigious professional football team Pohang Steelers last December and continues to make a splash.

Coach Park is also a ‘one club man’ who only played for Pohang after his professional debut in 1991 until his retirement in 2001, apart from playing for Sangmu for military service.

With this year’s K-League 1 progressing to the 11th round, he only lost the opening game and continued his unbeaten streak of 10 consecutive games (7 wins, 3 draws), putting his team on the front. In particular, this season, the team has recorded several ‘biggest goals’ at the end of games, continuing the reversal known as ‘Taeha Drama’. In addition, coach Lee Young-jin, a former member of the Daegu University football team, has been leading Changwon FC in the K3 (third division), the highest semi-professional football league, since last January having served as coach, head coach, and interim head coach of Seongnam FC.

Coach Lee Tae-hong, who leads the Daegu University football team, is also a coach from this university. Coach Lee said, “The performance of coaches from the Daegu University football team is a good example and a motivating force for younger players,” and added, “I will do my best to develop players worthy of the reputation of our seniors. “

Meanwhile, the Daegu University football club, founded in January 1987, produced a number of national team players, including Tae-ha Park, Jo Jung-hyun, Tae-hong Lee, Nam-yeol Park, Young-jin Lee, Sang-sik Kim, Seok-ho Hwang (Ulsan Hyundai), and Kang-san Kim (Daegu FC).
