Former Minister ⁣Grilled in Online Gambling​ Probe

Jakarta, ⁢Indonesia – Former Minister of Dialog and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi faced⁢ questioning thursday by police​ investigating allegations of​ online gambling involving ministry⁢ employees.

Setiadi, ⁢who now serves as minister of Cooperatives, emphasized his ⁤commitment to assisting authorities in eradicating ⁢online gambling. “Combating online gambling requires collective effort and cooperation from various ‌parties,” Setiadi stated upon⁣ leaving the⁤ National Police’s Crime Examination Agency (Bareskrim) in South Jakarta. “I ​am obligated to⁢ assist the police in resolving and eradicating ⁣online gambling cases within the Ministry of ⁢Communication and Digital Request.”

While Setiadi declined to divulge specifics about the questioning,he directed inquiries to the investigators.

The ⁢investigation, led by the Special Crimes Directorate of the Jakarta​ Police, centers on ministry employees allegedly involved in online ‍gambling activities ‍during Setiadi’s tenure as Minister of Communication and Informatics under President Joko Widodo. Setiadi acknowledged awareness of the individuals implicated.

This probe follows recent actions by the current Minister of Communication and Digital Application, Meutya V. Hafid. Five contract employees were terminated by Inspector General Arief Tri Hardiyanto for failing to⁢ meet administrative requirements, a move prompted by an ‍audit emphasizing strict adherence to administrative standards.”The minister’s directive is clear − every ‍employee must comply with administrative standards,” Hardiyanto stated in a December 9th press release.

The ⁣duration‌ of Setiadi’s examination remains undisclosed.
