Former Liberation Chairman Kim Won-woong dies aged 78

Former Liberation Chairman Kim Won-woong died on the 30th. 78 years old.

According to the bereaved family, Kim was recently battling cancer.

Former Chairman Kim served as a member of the 14th, 16th, and 17th members of the National Assembly, and served as chairman of the Danjae Shin Chae-ho Memorial Society and the Anti-Japanese Independence Activists Association.

Since 2019, he has served as Chairman of the Liberation Party, and resigned earlier this year due to financial allegations, and was the subject of an investigation by the prosecution. Survivors include his wife Jin Ok-seon, professor emeritus at Gachon University.

The funeral will be on the 1st of next month, and according to the wishes of the deceased, the bereaved family will hold it as a family funeral without a cortivary, and will refuse condolences and sympathies.
