The story of a man who came to the rescue after mistaking a doll floating in the sea for a child has been revealed.
Jeong Seong-hoon, a former member of the Navy’s Marine Rescue Squadron (SSU) who runs a YouTube channel called “Deep Sea Diver,” recently uploaded a video titled “Real situation, why a young man in his 20s fell into the sea” on his channel. This video captures the situation that occurred in the sea below Machang-daero, Gwisin-dong, Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do on the 8th.
In the video, Mr A, a man presumably in his twenties, swims towards something in the sea. Mr. Jeong, who was nearby, heard the ‘plop’ sound and started assessing the situation.
Mr. Jeong thought that Mr. A had made an extreme choice when he fell into the sea, but was confused when he saw that he was a good swimmer.
However, Mr. A’s cry of “Please save me” was soon heard, and Mr. Jeong jumped into the sea and dragged Mr. A to land.
A citizen who witnessed this scene called 911 and helped rescue Mr. A together with Mr. Jeong. As Mr. Jeong approached Mr. A to perform CPR, a doll fell out of his arms.
Mr. Jeong asked, “Are you here to save this?” Fortunately, Mr. A came to his senses and left the scene with the words “Thank you”.
In a comment attached to the video, Mr Jeong said: “The rescuer saw a doll that looked so much like a real baby floating in the sea, and thought it might be a human, so he dived in without hesitation, and he seemed to have cramps. Luckily I, who was nearby, saved him.” “I did it,” he said. “I express my sincere respect for the unknown young man who risked his life and threw himself into the winter sea for something that may or may not have been a person.”
