Former NIS Director Park Jie-won Apologizes for Inappropriate Remarks as Democratic Party Candidate

Former National Intelligence Service director Park Jie-won, who is running as the Democratic Party candidate in the 22nd general election on the 10th next month, said: “I said that my remarks as an honorary member of the Democratic Party of Korea were done as a courtesy, but I sincerely apologize for being inappropriate.”

In a YouTube broadcast in which he appeared with Cho Kuk, the leader of the Cho Kuk Innovation Party, the day before yesterday (18), former President Park responded to President Cho’s observation: “Since we have the same perception of situation, we will make you become an honorary party member in the future,” and said, “Dual party membership is not allowed, so it will be honorary.” “I like the party,” he told himself.

The Democratic Party leadership gathered views at last night’s Supreme Council meeting that former Director Park’s remarks were inappropriate and plans to take disciplinary action against former Director Park.

Former director Park said: “The Democratic Party must secure a majority of seats. He explained the purpose of his remarks as “the desire to secure 200 seats by uniting all ‘anti-Yoon’ forces to make the exercise of the veto impossible.”

He added: “We support the victory of the Democratic Alliance of Korea and add that publicizing the proportional candidate No. 1 Seo Mi-hwa, who has a story, will help get votes.”
