McGinty secured her spot by finishing tied for 21st in the grueling final qualifying stage of the LPGA Q Series held at Magnolia Grove Golf Club in Mobile, alabama.
McGinty’s journey to the LPGA was marked by resilience and determination. after opening rounds of 71 and 74, she roared back with a stellar six-under 65 in round three, showcasing her impressive skills. She maintained her momentum with an even-par 72 in round four, ensuring her place in the final round.
The final round, initially delayed by inclement weather, saw McGinty deliver another strong performance, carding a three-under 69. this impressive finish propelled her four spots up the leaderboard, securing her coveted LPGA card.”I’m incredibly excited to join the LPGA Tour,” said McGinty. “It’s been a lifelong goal, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to compete at the highest level.”
McGinty becomes the 19th player in Ohio State women’s golf history to earn LPGA status, joining fellow Buckeye Jessica Porvasnik, who qualified earlier this year. Porvasnik’s remarkable performance on the EPSON Tour, highlighted by six top-10 finishes, earned her a spot on the LPGA Tour for the 2025 season.
Both McGinty and porvasnik are poised to make their LPGA debuts this spring, carrying the Buckeye spirit onto the world stage.

ND3: Caley, congratulations on securing your LPGA card! What does this achievement mean to you?
CM: ItS an absolutely incredible feeling. Playing on the LPGA Tour has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl, and to see it finally come true is surreal. I’m so grateful for the support of my family, coaches, and everyone who has helped me along the way.
ND3: Your performance at the LPGA Q Series was truly notable, especially that third round 65.Can you walk us through that day?
CM: Honestly, it felt like everything just clicked. I was hitting the ball well, making putts, and just feeling confident out there. It was one of those rounds where you get in the zone and everything seems to fall into place.
ND3: You join fellow Buckeye Jessica Porvasnik on the LPGA Tour. What does it mean to represent Ohio State on the biggest stage in women’s golf?
CM: It’s an honor to wear the Scarlet and Gray on the LPGA Tour. Ohio State has such a rich history of success in women’s golf, and I’m proud to be a part of that legacy. Having Jessica out there already has been amazing, and we can’t wait to cheer each othre on.
ND3: What are your goals for your rookie season on the LPGA Tour?
CM: My main goal is to learn and grow as a player. The competition is fierce on the LPGA Tour, and I know I have a lot to learn. I just want to soak up every experience and keep getting better. Of course, I want to win tournaments and make a name for myself, but for now, my focus is on improving and enjoying the journey.
