Today in Tokyo, the Director General of the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, was held.

There is an analysis that the cause of sympathy diplomacy has faded as the number of participants from major countries has decreased.

Even on the day of the funeral, protests against the director were held in various parts of Japan.

Tokyo reporter Hyun Young-jun covered the story.

The funeral began with the leadership of Prime Minister Kishida, the chairman of the funeral.

“You served the longest in our constitutional history, but history will remember your work longer.”

After condolences from Japanese political figures, the funeral was held in a foreign condolence order, followed by wreaths from Vice President Harris of the United States and Prime Minister Han Deok-soo of Korea.

At the citizen flower stand set up near the Budokan, grieving ordinary citizens bowed their heads in memory.

“I am grateful (to former Prime Minister Abe) for improving Japan’s status globally.”

However, protests against the director continued until the day of the funeral, revealing a divided Japanese society.

Last night, protests against former Prime Minister Abe’s director general were held in Tokyo, Osaka, Sapporo, Okinawa, and other parts of the country.

Today, a large scale demonstration is being held in front of the National Assembly in time for the opening of the Director General.

“I think it is a very big problem as a democratic country that the Cabinet decides and implements it unilaterally without going through the National Assembly.”

The number of condolences has been reduced from the original 7,000 to 4,000.

Emperor Naruhito did not attend in person and sent a royal staff instead, and since the heads of the G7 countries were not present, Prime Minister Kishida, who forced the head of state in the name of sympathy diplomacy, took on a political burden.

Before the director, Korean Prime Minister Han Deok-soo had met with US Vice President Harris, who announced plans to visit the Korean DMZ the next day.

Prime Minister Han also plans to meet with Prime Minister Kishida tomorrow to discuss major issues between Korea and Japan.
