Former professional basketball player Ki Seung-ho was sentenced to death for beating his junior at a dinner party. Chief Judge Yang Hwan-seung of the Seoul Central District Court sentenced Ki to six months in prison for injury. However, he said, “We will not be detained in court to give an opportunity to recover from damage.”

In April last year, Mr. Ki hit his junior, Mr. A, at a dinner party at Hyundai Mobis in Ulsan, his club, and inflicted 5 weeks of injuries. A was diagnosed with an orbital fracture and was placed on the operating table. After the assault, Ki’s contract was terminated by his club, and he was also permanently expelled from the Korea Basketball Federation.

During the trial, Ki admitted to all charges. “The team failed to win the championship at a time when his career as a player was short, so he drank and made a mistake,” he said. In the last trial, he said, “I bow my head and apologize to the A player and his family who have been hurt and hurt because of me.”

However, we could not reach an agreement with Mr. The court explained the reason for sentencing, saying, “The victim was not forgiven and efforts to recover the damage were not enough.” However, he said, “It was an accidental crime, and Ki also lost his career as an athlete,” he said.
