Robert Destro, the former Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Affairs and a professor of law at the US State Department, said at the meeting, “The way they (the Chinese Communist Party) operate in the West is if they can’t be separated and coerced. (The extraction methods and the repressive methods) to reach, then spend money to buy.”
“I strongly recommend tracking the flow of funds.”
“You (we) think the Vatican didn’t get a lot of money. I suspect they might have got it. It may not seem obvious, but it may be a behind-the-scenes transaction.” He said.

Pastor: The CCP’s donation to the Vatican is astronomical
Guo Baosheng, a Chinese American Christian pastor, writer, and commentator on current affairs in China, told The Epoch Times that he agrees with the view that there is a huge amount of money transactions between China and the Vatican.
Pastor Guo Baosheng said, “As a country, the Vatican needs a lot of expenditure and money. (It) does not have any enterprises. The Vatican is a religious organization that operates entirely on’money donations (religious donations)’. It is also a country. The donation is not monitored by any national government.”
He said, “The Chinese government directly gave money to the Vatican. I think this number must be astronomical and very large.”
“Such a huge economic donation has a great diplomatic impact on the Vatican. Therefore, it (the Vatican) often makes the CCP happy, but it ignores religious freedom and basic human rights.”
In September 2018, the Roman Catholic Vatican and the Chinese Communist government signed a secret agreement on the appointment of bishops; in October 2020, the agreement was extended for two years. The full text of the agreement has not been made public so far.
Outsiders criticized that the Vatican’s move was to kowtow to the CCP and dance with the “devil”.
Tom Farr, president of the American Association for Religious Freedom, stated at a hearing in the U.S. Congress in 2020 that the Vatican and the Chinese Communist Party signed an agreement to deal with the “devil.”
Pastor Guo Baosheng said, “The secret Sino-Vatican agreement is conducive to the CCP’s control of the Catholic Church in China and further persecution of the Catholic Church.”
“The recommendation of the Chinese Catholic bishop is completely controlled by the Chinese (CCP) government. (The bishop) is a member of the official church and the Catholic Patriotic Association. The underground Catholic Church, which is truly loyal to the Holy See, is thrown aside.” He said.
It is reported that there are about 10 million Catholics in China, and about half of them are members of the underground Catholic Church. They refuse to recognize the “patriotic church” approved by the Chinese Communist Party.
Nina Shea, director of the Center for Religious Freedom of the Hudson Institute, also stated at a seminar held on October 18, 2021 that the newly appointed Catholic bishop of Fujian Province by the CCP is the same as the CCP’s new model of Christian leaders. , To promote CCP (patriotic) socialism.
Vatican’s “Compromise with the CCP”
Pastor Guo Baosheng stated that because the Vatican has donated huge amounts of money from the CCP, it has fully compromised with the CCP, including a series of issues such as Falun Gong, living organ harvesting, Hong Kong, and Uyghurs.
In 2017, the Anti-Organ Trafficking Conference hosted by the Pontifical Academy of Sciences of the Vatican invited Huang Jiefu, the former Minister of Health of the Communist Party of China, and others to attend and give keynote speeches, which aroused criticism from the international community.
The International Organization for the Tracing of the Persecution of Falun Gong (hereinafter referred to as “Waiting for the World”) publicly published the “Waiting for the International to the Pope”. The letter pointed out that the Vatican Pontifical Academy of Sciences is about to host the “Anti-Organ Trafficking Summit”. Inviting Huang Jiefu, a surgeon who is seriously suspected of participating in organ harvesting from living bodies on the mainland, to speak, to clean up the CCP’s crime of harvesting organs from live Falun Gong practitioners.
The major Italian newspapers “Republic”, “Health”, “New Compass” and other media published reports, citing the opinions of political leaders and experts, saying that the Vatican was used by the CCP to cover up its live organ harvesting practices.
Pastor Guo Baosheng said, “(The Vatican) turned a deaf ear to the persecution of Falun Gong.”
The CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong began in 1999. According to a statistics from the Ministry of Public Security of the Communist Party of China, there are more than 70 million Falun Gong practitioners. This number triggered fear and bloody suppression by the CCP.
Guo Baosheng stated that the Vatican invited Huang Jiefu, the former Minister of Health of the Communist Party of China, to speak at the meeting against organ trafficking, which was obviously a compromise with the Communist Party. The CCP’s practice of harvesting organs from prisoners of conscience such as Falun Gong practitioners was first exposed in the international community in 2006. Over the past decade or so, the international community has issued multiple reports confirming that the CCP has harvested live organs.
In March 2020, the Independent People’s Court (also known as the “Chinese Court”) in London, England issued its final written judgment, which concluded as follows:
“Live organ harvesting has been happening on a large scale across China for many years, and Falun Gong practitioners are one of them-and possibly the main source of-human organs.”
“The persecution and medical examinations focused on the Uyghur population are relatively recent.”
Regarding the judgment made by the “Chinese Court”, the Epoch Times reporter contacted the Vatican Press Office on October 19, 2021. As of this writing, the Vatican has not made any comments.
