Al-Mawlid was involved in the accident after featuring for his country in the Asian qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup. He played as a substitute against Indonesia and China.
The Dubai Media Office reported that the generator fell from the balcony of his second-floor home while on a short vacation in Dubai. The player’s health is under observation, and he is under intensive care at a hospital in Dubai.
The Al-Shabaab club sent its president to Dubai to assess the medical condition of the player, who is in a critical condition with severe fractures in various parts of his body.
Al-Mawlid, who grew up at Al-Ittihad Club in Jeddah, played for his club between 2011 and 2022, scoring 17 goals in 74 international matches. He previously had a short professional experience at Spanish club Levante in the second half of the 2017-2018 season.
Al-Mawlid was suspended twice due to his consumption of stimulants. The first was for one year between 2019 and 2020, and the second was for 18 months between March 2022 and September 2023, which led to his exclusion from the Saudi national team squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
