The new rule will also apply to connecting flights.

When the move to end short-haul domestic flights was first announced, the French Airports Union and the European branch of the Airports Council International opposed it. But the report of the European Air Services Regulation says that such restrictions can be introduced when a member state is facing serious environmental problems.

The ban on short-haul flights will be valid for three years. The decision must be reassessed by the Commission after three years. The Transport Minister also drew attention to the fact that the decision was an important step to reduce pollution. The Minister said that the decision will be left to the public to comment on and the Council of State will review it. Byun said that the matter will be presented at the meeting of European transport ministers to be held in October. France has the highest number of private jets in Europe, according to aviation data.
