French Ambassador to senegal, Christine Fages, emphasized France’s dedication to feminist diplomacy, an initiative championed by only 15 countries globally. she stressed that supporting the women’s ecosystem is a priority for the French team in Senegal, particularly in health, entrepreneurship, and combating violence against women.
According to Fages, “We hope that this event will be one of the major events of the year, like the Women investment Forum or the exclusively female forum.” The Ambassador also highlighted concrete projects supported by France, such as the Maïssa fund, dedicated to cultural and creative industries, and the Finance for All project, which facilitates access to funding for women entrepreneurs. She added, “Senegalese women are dynamic and create wealth. They just need a boost to co-construct projects that benefit everyone.”
Ethnographic Exhibition Showcases the Power of Women
Awa Cheikh Diouf, Executive Director of the Henriette Bathily Women’s Museum, presented the ethnographic photo exhibition entitled “Equality in Light,” created in partnership with the French embassy. This exhibition highlights the Adiamat and Tenda communities of Senegal, as well as the traditional roles of women in the social and political organization of thes communities.
Diouf explained,”This exhibition highlights the power of women,whether esoteric or political. It is the quintessence of what we want to convey.”

The exhibition, held at the esplanade of the Place du Souvenir, also showcases the concrete achievements of women entrepreneurs supported by various programs. Diouf noted, “From the moment women are empowered and acquire know-how, they can move forward.This year’s theme,’For all women and girls: rights,equality and empowerment,’ reflects this desire to support them financially and technically.”
Two-day Programme Celebrates Women’s Rights and Empowerment
A series of activities are scheduled over two days to celebrate women’s rights and empowerment. A symposium bringing together experts, entrepreneurs, and NGO representatives will address topics such as access to finance, women’s health, and the fight against gender-based violence. Exhibition stands will showcase women’s achievements in various fields, including sports, investment, and creative industries.
Alongside the exhibition, training and awareness workshops will be organized for women entrepreneurs, focusing on the technical and managerial skills needed to develop their projects. an awards ceremony will recognize the most innovative initiatives led by women.
Progress Since the First Edition
When asked about progress since the event’s first edition, Fages highlighted the advancements made thru the Teranga Club and the incubation of women in entrepreneurship. “We have incubated a significant number of women this year and continue to support NGOs in women’s health and the fight against violence,” she stated.
The representative of the Minister of Family and Solidarity praised the initiative and reaffirmed the Senegalese government’s commitment to supporting women in all areas. “The empowerment of women is a national priority, and we are working hand in hand with our partners to achieve this goal,” she concluded.
