Mount St. Mary’s Swimming & Diving Achievements at Franklin & Marshall Invitational

EMMITSBURG, Md. (November 24, 2024) – Mount St. Mary’s swimming & diving team concluded the Franklin & Marshall Invitational with notable finishes. The women’s team secured second place with 999 points, while the men’s team finished third with 1,266 points.

On Sunday, two swimmers and a relay team claimed victories. Jason Fitch won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:47.21. Aidan Grady took first place in the 200-yard breaststroke, finishing in 2:02.65. The women’s 400-yard freestyle relay team triumphed with a time of 3:28.57. This team included Christina Lazari, Madison Murphy, Carmen Del Aguila Martin, and Meghan Speicher.

Additionally, Liam Rooney set a new personal record in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing third with a time of 1:53.05. He joined the men’s 400-yard freestyle relay team, which included Nicholas Santorelli, Austin Toland, Parker Koenig, and Lucas Hancock. Their relay time of 3:04.59 surpassed the previous record of 3:04.81 from the 2024 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship.

Other notable performances included Del Aguila Martin and Theodora Kanellopoulou finishing second and third in the 200-yard backstroke. Christina Lazari was a runner-up in the 200 breaststroke. John Baroody, Speicher, Santorelli, and Joshua Nelson also achieved top five finishes in their respective events.

Looking ahead, Mount St. Mary’s will host a dual meet against the Rider Broncs on Tuesday, December 17.
