Free HPV Vaccination for Thai Children Aged 9-15: Protect Against Cervical Cancer and Genital Warts

Chulalongkorn Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society, is extending an invitation to Thai children, both female and male, aged 9-15 years old (those older than this age are not eligible) to avail themselves of a free vaccination against four strains of HPV. This vaccine effectively prevents HPV infection, a leading cause of cervical cancer in women, as well as genital warts and rectal cancer in men.

To register for the vaccination, interested individuals can use either the provided QR Code or the Link. Act now to secure your spot and receive the new HPV vaccine, free of charge, in September. This initiative is being supported by the Saowapha Foundation – Chula Hospital, with the location and service details available for checking.

It is important to note that appointments are essential for receiving the vaccination, and walk-ins are not accepted. The vaccination services will be open from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on the specified dates: Saturday, September 9, and Sunday, September 10, 2023, as well as Saturday, September 16, and Sunday, September 17, 2023. The venue for the vaccination campaign is the 13th floor of the Bhumisiri Mangkhalanusorn Building at Chulalongkorn Hospital, Thai Red Cross Society.

To be eligible for the service, the following conditions must be met: Thai children, both females and males, aged between 9-15 years (born between September 17, 2008, and September 9, 2014) who have never received any HPV vaccine before will receive two doses of the vaccine. The second dose will be administered at least two weeks apart, but not more than six months from the date of the first injection. If an individual has previously received a single dose of the vaccine against four types of HPV, they will be administered another dose, with at least a six-month gap from the first dose. The first two types of HPV must be covered first before proceeding to the other two types. The 4 types of HPV vaccine will only be available on pre-arranged days and times. Participants must bring their original ID/birth certificate and vaccination book and complete the vaccination process on the designated day.

Please note that the registration system requires individuals who have never received services at Chulalongkorn Hospital to fill in their ID card number information. New patients are required to register in advance via the Chula Care application before registering for the vaccination.

Cervical cancer can be successfully treated if detected early. Individuals are encouraged to undergo regular screenings and follow prevention methods based on their respective age groups.

It is important to understand that HPV doesn’t only affect women, as men are also at risk of developing cancer. This vaccination campaign aims to protect both genders from this potential health threat.
