Jacob Fearnley,a month shy of⁢ his fourth birthday when Stan Wawrinka first played at the French Open in 2005,is preparing to face the veteran in his own Roland Garros debut. The match is scheduled for approximately 2 p.m. BST on court 14.

Despite the experience gap, the world number 55, Fearnley, possesses the skill to challenge Wawrinka, the 2015 champion, even as the swiss player, currently⁤ ranked 138th, received ⁣a wildcard entry and has struggled in Paris since 2020.

Fearnley ⁣acknowledged Wawrinka’s accomplishments but asserted his intent to win. “I think you have to give‍ your opponents a certain amount of respect, especially when they’ve won a lot on such big stages and ⁤been triumphant for so long,” Fearnley said. “Obviously Wawrinka has done incredible things, but I have to remember that I’m here to win and here to play a match.”
