A play is being produced which tells the story of a 40-year-old married woman and a 15-year-old boy who met as teacher and student, but later overcame their 25-year age gap and became a couple. The main characters of this play are the French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte Macron.

According to France Enpo on the 19th (local time), Gaumont, a famous French film production company, is planning a drama based on Brigitte, ‘Brigitte, a Free Woman’, with a total of 6 episodes (45 minutes per episode).

The play is set in a private school in Amiens in 1992. It depicts the story of how Brigitte, a married woman who was a 40-year-old theater teacher at the time, met President Macron when she was a 15-year-old student. , married, and became the first wife.

At the moment, the script is in the writing stage, and actors and broadcast channels have not been decided yet.

Benedict Charles, one of the two writers who wrote the script, told the press, “Brigitte is a fascinating character, and because of the romanticism of her fate, I wanted to approach her in a romantic and melodramatic way.”

The Elysee Palace did not comment. “We found out about it through the media and we are not part of this project,” a close associate of Brigitte told AFP.

President Macron was elected the youngest president of France in history at the age of 39 in the presidential election held in May 2017. At the time, President Macron’s romance with Brigitte gained public attention, as did his young age.

Brigitte also revealed the story behind her marriage to President Macron through a media interview last November.

When President Macron was 15 years old, he attended a private school in Amiens, France, and fell in love with Brigitte, who was a teacher at the time. Mrs. Bridget was married and had three children at the time. The love story between a 40-year-old married teacher and a student caused controversy in the region, and President Macron’s parents sent him to Paris to study.

Despite her parents’ opposition, Macron constantly courted Brigitte, and they eventually divorced and married in 2007.

Brigitte said of the situation at the time in an interview, “The only obstacle was the children,” and “I took 10 years to avoid ruining the children’s lives. “I can imagine what my children must have heard, but I didn’t want to miss out on my life,” she said.

Meanwhile, some are criticizing the idea of producing a drama about the private life of a sitting president and his wife, saying it is inappropriate.

Former Culture Minister Roslin Bachelonarquin, a former member of Macron’s government, said, “It’s honestly uncomfortable,” and “This is an invasion of privacy.” However, he said, “When the drama airs, I will be the first to watch it.”
