Friendly football: Chhetri with goal and assist, India win over Nepal

Kathmandu: India won the friendly football match against Nepal. India won by two goals to one. Farooq Chaudhary and Sunil Chhetri scored for India. Tej Tamang scored a goal for Nepal. In the previous friendly, the two had drawn one goal each and drew.

The first half was goalless at the Dashrath Stadium in Kathmandu. India created several chances but could not break the deadlock. India took the lead in the 62nd minute. Chaudhary, who came on as a substitute on Chhetri’s assist, was shaking the net. Chhetri took the lead in the 80th minute. This time it was Aniruddha Thapa who led the way.

Nepal’s attempt to retaliate was limited to one goal. Tamang scored in the 87th minute. Nepal is ranked 168th in the FIFA rankings. India is ranked 105th.
