(Seogwipo = Yonhap News) Reporter Kwon Hoon = Hyun Se-rin (21), who gained attention by winning second place twice in the European Women’s Professional Golf Tour (LET) Tournament as an amateur high school student, but has yet to achieve any results amazing on the professional stage, strong in her home town

Serin Hyun shot a 7-under 65 in the first round of the SK Networks/Seoul Economy Ladies Classic (total prize money 800 million won) on the Korean Women’s Professional Golf tour (KLPGA) held at Pinx Golf Club (par 72) in Seogwipo – si, Jeju Island on the 27th to lead the club

Serin Hyun, who entered the KLPGA tour in 2020, did not live up to the expectations she had as a junior.

At the age of 17, she was runner-up in the Estreya Dam Women’s Open following the 2018 Thailand LET Championship, and won silver medals in individual events and the Asia Pacific Golf Federation (APGC) Junior Championships team tied for first in drawing the US Women’s Amateur Championship in play attention stroke

In his rookie season on the KLPGA Tour, he finished second in points for Rookie of the Year, but only finished in the top 10 twice and came in 37th in the money prize standings. Last year, the second year, there were no significant achievements.

He made his name in the top 10 three times, including the round of 16 game play, tied for ninth place, and remained in 42nd place in the money prize standings.

This year too, he was ranked 37th in the prize money list, so he was less worried about the seed next year.

This was because the shot was shaken up, such as the distance which was only 80th on the tour, and the green hit rate which was pushed to 96th.

Fortunately, the green play was excellent, so he managed to keep the rank of lieutenant colonel.

However, Serin Hyun’s performance on the day of the tournament in ‘Hometown’ was completely different.

He swung an accurate shot that missed the green just once. On the 7th hole (par 4), the second shot went off the green and he made a light par save.

The green play was excellent enough to hold 7 birdies without a bogey.

He had a hit rate of 94.4% on the green and only 26 putts. His 7 under 65 is the lowest personal batting record this season.

Serin Hyun said, “I felt comfortable coming to my hometown, Jeju after a long time. There was not much wind today and the course layout was good. I like fast greens, but it went the ball as I saw on the lawn today.”

When asked how often he played golf in Jeju, he replied, “I can’t count.”

On this day, Serin Hyun’s family, relatives, friends, and younger sisters from Jeju came to support her.

“The result wasn’t good, but the overall swing wasn’t bad,” said Hyun Serin, who said, “I waited for it to be okay when the time came, but it’s a little late, but it’s getting better now . “

Serin Hyun said, “I’ve heard a lot of people say that I don’t have a sense of urgency, but I’ll play the rest of the round with the mindset of just playing like today.”

Yoonji Jeong (22) and rookie Minju Kim (20), who have been frequently reaching the top ranks since winning the E1 Charity Open in May, also dropped 5 strokes to join the 3rd place group on the joint

Park Min-ji (24) and Kim Su-ji (26), two ‘autumn queens’, who are in fierce competition for the prize money and the grand prize, finished the first round tied for 19th by hitting 2 under par 70 side by side.

Defending champion Kim Hyo-joo (27) traded two birdies and two bogeys, finishing with an even par 72 (tied for 48).
