Fuel Price | Fuel prices remain unchanged in the country despite rising crude oil prices

Crude oil prices soar in global markets The Russia-Ukraine war and the ensuing sanctions have pushed up international crude oil prices. Brent crude hit $ 113 a barrel. This is the highest rate in eight years. Although members of the International Energy Agency agreed to release 60 million barrels of oil from emergency stock, oil prices continued to rise sharply. The move could not stop the rise in crude futures. It is currently trading at $ 113.72 a barrel.

At the same time, the country’s fuel prices remain unchanged. However, reports suggest that petrol-diesel prices are likely to rise sharply in the coming weeks. Assembly elections in five states, including Uttar Pradesh, will end on Monday. Petrol and diesel prices are likely to go up overnight.

On March 4, petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged in four metros across the country. This situation has been going on for more than a hundred days. On November 3, after the retail price hit a record high, the central government decided to cut excise duty on petrol by Rs 5 and diesel by Rs 10. Many states and Union Territories have followed in the footsteps of the Center and announced reduction in fuel tax.

Public sector oil refineries such as Indian Oil, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum are revising their daily fuel prices in line with international crude oil prices and the rupee-dollar exchange rate. Any change in petrol and diesel prices will take effect from 6 am every day.
