Fuel prices to fall in country; Center lowers excise duty amid nationwide protests

Delhi: The central government has finally decided to reduce the price of petrol (Diesel Excise Cut) in protest and protests across the country. Petrol price will be reduced by Rs 5 per liter and diesel by Rs 10 per liter. The lower price will take effect from midnight today. The central government announced the decision on the eve of Diwali. The Center also demanded that the states reduce the value added tax.

In Delhi, petrol is currently priced at Rs 110.04 per liter and diesel at Rs 98.42 per liter. In Mumbai, petrol costs Rs 115.85 and diesel Rs 106.62. In Kolkata, petrol is priced at Rs 106.66 and in Chennai at Rs 102.59. In Kerala, fuel prices have gone up for seven consecutive days. Today’s petrol and diesel prices are similar to yesterday’s. In Kerala, petrol price is above Rs 110 in all districts. Thiruvananthapuram has the highest petrol price in the state today at Rs 112.41.

Fuel prices have been on the rise since September 24. So far this year, petrol prices have risen by 31 per cent and diesel by 33 per cent. During the last 10 months, petrol price has gone up by Rs 26.06 and diesel by Rs 25.91. During the same period, crude oil prices have doubled. Crude prices fell to an average of $ 86 a barrel, down from an average of $ 40.66 a barrel in October following the Kovid expansion. Brent crude averaged $ 54.79 in January. Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest fuel producer, reported a 158 percent increase in profits.
