Fueling the Flames: How Western Arms to Ukraine are Prolonging the Deadly Conflict with Iran’s Ally, Russia
Iran Rejects Accusations of Involvement in Ukrainian Crisis
Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Said Irani, has rejected accusations made by the United States, Britain, and France regarding Tehran’s role in the Ukrainian crisis.
In a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council, Irani stated that the accusations are misleading and baseless. He emphasized that the supply of Western and advanced weapons, particularly from the United States, has prolonged the war in Ukraine and caused significant civilian and infrastructure damage.
Irani noted that the representatives of France and Britain have made false accusations under UN Security Council Resolution 2231 (2015), while the representative of the United States has accused the Islamic Republic of Iran of supporting terrorism. He stressed that these allegations are baseless and strongly rejected.
The Islamic Republic of Iran views these allegations as a reflection of the limited and short-sighted political plans of these three permanent members of the Council, aiming to secure their own political interests. This is evident in their historical performance in the Security Council.
Iran categorically rejects any allegations involving arms sales, exports, or transfers to the Russian Federation and violations of its international obligations. The country reaffirms its strict commitment to complying with international humanitarian law.
Irani emphasized that the United States, not Iran, is the main sponsor and promoter of terrorism in the region and the world, supporting the Israeli entity, which is considered the world’s most dangerous terrorist regime.
