Furlong and Porter Sign Two-Year Extensions with IRFU
Irish Rugby Powerhouse Duo Commit to Leinster Through 2027
Dublin,Ireland – Leinster Rugby fans have reason to celebrate as two of Ireland’s most formidable forwards,Tadhg Furlong and Andrew Porter,have inked two-year contract extensions,keeping them with teh province until the end of the 2026/27 season.
Furlong, the 32-year-old Wexford native, has been a cornerstone of both Leinster and the Irish national team.Since his debut for Leinster in 2013, the tighthead prop has amassed 149 appearances, contributing to four Pro12/Pro14 titles and a European Champions Cup victory.On the international stage,Furlong boasts 78 caps,including three Six Nations championships.
“To get the chance to continue my playing career in Ireland with my home province is a dream come true,” Furlong said. “I am delighted to extend my long association with both Leinster Rugby and the IRFU for the seasons to come. Since the beginning of my career I have aimed to contribute positively in a winning environment and I believe that there are luminous times to come for club and country.”
Porter, a 28-year-old loosehead prop, has also cemented his place as a key figure for both Leinster and Ireland.He started all 11 of Ireland’s Tests in 2024, showcasing his growing influence within Andy Farrell’s squad. With 70 caps to his name, Porter has been a part of three Six Nations triumphs and represented Ireland at both the 2019 and 2023 Rugby World Cups.
“Playing in Ireland is something that I never take for granted and I am delighted to commit my future to my home province Leinster and Ireland,” Porter said. “There is a huge amount of talent coming through the system at provincial and international levels and it is indeed a privilege to work with such a talented group of coaches and players.”
The news of these extensions comes as a important boost for Leinster ahead of their upcoming URC clash against Connacht.
