Apple is preparing to significantly reduce the screen bezels on upcoming iPad models, bringing the tablet design closer to the appearance of high-end smartphones and recent Galaxy Tab devices, according to a recent report.

Slimmer Bezels on Future iPad Models

Information published on Weibo indicates that future iPad lineups will feature considerably thinner borders around the display. While the modification appears largely aesthetic at first glance, it alters the device’s overall presence by allowing the screen to occupy a much larger share of the front surface.

According to a new leak, upcoming models are expected to benefit from noticeably thinner borders, giving the tablets a much more modern look. This evolution would be particularly visible compared to Samsung’s latest Galaxy Tab models, which have featured more discreet borders around their screens for several generations. Apple would thus maintain its design language while reducing one of the elements that still gives iPads a more dated appearance. Current iPad Pro hardware features refined engineering, but the borders remain relatively noticeable when compared directly to alternative hardware like Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S11 series. Apple historically maintains wider margins to prevent accidental touch inputs when users grip the sides of the device, but competitor designs demonstrate that narrower frames can be implemented without disrupting daily usability.

Processor Upgrades and Internal Performance Improvements

Beyond the exterior redesign, the leaked details point to internal hardware updates for the upcoming tablets. Future iPad releases are slated to receive new processors, increased RAM allocations, and minor refinements to thermal management systems.

These technical adjustments remain less visible during daily use compared to the physical reduction of screen borders. Apple has traditionally updated its tablet catalog through incremental steps, including processor swaps, display enhancements, integration of Apple Intelligence features, and the transition to OLED technology for Pro models.

Apple has not confirmed rumored design changes

Apple has not issued official confirmation regarding the rumored design changes, and the initial leak does not specify whether thinner bezels will apply across the entire iPad product family or remain exclusive to premium tiers. Because tablet upgrade cycles run slower than smartphone replacements, visible aesthetic changes often serve as a primary purchasing incentive alongside OLED displays.
