Ganesh reacts emotionally against Kifbi; Assistant Shamsir | Ganesh Kumar

Ganesh Kumar’s emotional response.‌ The former minister emotionally shared his experience of traffic congestion on state highways while stating that the construction of Kifby roads announced in Pathanapuram constituency in 2017 is not complete.

Ganesh Kumar said that when he left for Kottarakkara after learning about his mother’s heart attack, he was stuck in a traffic jam for 20 minutes at Venjaramoottam and finally could not see his mother alive. Kifby blocked the construction of the flyover at Venjaramoottam. Ganesh Kumar asked what power Kifbik has for this.

Construction of roads announced in Pathanapuram has not been completed. The reason is that the tender has been rescheduled and changed. After the election was announced, Kifby issued a stop memo to stop the road work. The stop memo pointed out the problems in acquiring the land. Construction of roads announced in Pathanapuram in 2018-19 has not started. A large percentage of the money is carried by consultants. Ganesh Kumar asked why consultants are being brought in from outside when there are engineers in the public works department who are paid crores of rupees. AN Shamsir also supported Ganesh’s arguments. Pro-government MLAs also commented that there were delays in many of the Kifby projects.

Public Works Minister PA Mohammad Riyaz said Kifbi had put forward some suggestions to ensure the quality of the projects. Kifby allocated more money to the maintenance department. Not all of Kifby’s standards can be changed. The MLAs have focused on the issues. The meeting on July 27 has decided to expedite the projects. The Minister said that the surveyors should be provided temporarily under the Survey Department to expedite the projects. However, Revenue Minister K Rajan said that surveyors could not be allowed independently. The independent survey system is unacceptable. The minister said steps have been taken to make more surveyors available.

The Public Works Minister explained that he had said that the surveyors should be taken in consultation with the Revenue Department and that the Revenue Minister may have been wrong in his understanding. He said public works officials would meet once a month to review the Kifby project.
