Gangnam Station Lover’s Murder Case: Funeral of Victim A and Police Investigation Updates

The funeral of A (25), victim of the “Gangnam Station Lover’s Murder Case”, was strictly held on the 10th. Victim A was killed by medical student Choi (25) on the roof of a nearby building at Gangnam Station in Seocho-gu, Seoul, around 5 p.m. It is known that Mr. A was a middle school classmate of Mr. Choi, a medical student at a prestigious university in Seoul, and that they were once lovers. On this day, Mr. A’s funeral was held without a funeral. In accordance with the wishes of the grieving family, who “wanted to spend the time in silence”, the funeral was omitted and no mourners were accepted.

Mr. A’s aunt, who I met that day, said: “I can’t believe it. “It’s painful and unfair,” she said. “I never thought something like this could happen to us.” She said: “He was a good guy. “Whenever something delicious came out, I always encouraged my mother and aunt to try it first and then gave in,” she said, crying, adding, “OO grew up well and was a child who knew nothing of the world.” At the same time, he said: “It is so unfair that a public defender was assigned to such a cruel person (like Mr. Choi),” and added: “Please make sure to impose a punishment of life imprisonment or more”.

The police sent two profilers from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s forensic investigation team to investigate Mr. Choi, who was detained, for about three hours starting at 1:30 pm this day. It involves analyzing the exact motive for the crime and the psychological state by analyzing the statements obtained through the interview. Based on the results of this interview, we intend to decide whether to conduct a diagnostic psychopathy test on Mr. Choi.

Police intend to determine the specific circumstances of the crime through statements from Choi and those around him and the results of forensic analysis of cellphones, and will transfer the case to the prosecution within the next week.
