Garmin’s inReach uses the Iridium satellite constellation as the communication system, while the InReach Mini 2 satellite tracking communication device is MIL-STD-810 compliant and has a battery life of up to 14 days. The combination of the two can provide 24/7 shared location and location tracking, allowing trackers to view and track climbers’ GPS location in real time via MapShare, and to transmit two-way text messages with the device. inReach Mini 2 itself also provides TRACBACK capability to track and return, and in the event of an emergency, you can press the SOS emergency help button, and Garmin’s IERCC International Rescue Center will assist with emergency notification.

The Garmin inReach Mini 2 device itself will be available from Chunghwa Telecom from October 3rd, and will be available in brick and mortar brand stores from November 1st. However, users have to apply for services from Chunghwa Telecom, and they are divided into three service levels.
