Gas Safety Corporation, Ethics and Integrity Field Improvement Cruise

Achieved excellent grade in overall integrity in the evaluation by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission

[투데이에너지 조대인 기자] Since last year, Korea Gas Safety Corporation has been strongly promoting the improvement of ethics and integrity.

As a result, it achieved 2nd grade in the comprehensive integrity evaluation conducted by the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (hereinafter referred to as the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission).

As a result of an increase of one grade compared to 2020 (grade 3), the improvement in internal integrity is particularly remarkable.

In terms of internal integrity, it has obtained a level of 2, which is two steps higher than in 2020 (grade 4).

This is thanks to the establishment of company-wide ethical and integrity improvement measures and an attempt to renew them.

In particular, the preparation of measures to enhance transparency in vulnerable areas such as personnel and budget execution and the strengthening of internal control over these matters greatly contributed to the improvement of internal integrity.

To strengthen the reliability of the telegram, a labor-management joint grievance committee was established and a period for reporting unfair telegrams was operated to monitor the transparency of the procedure.

Internal and external communication was also actively promoted to spread a culture of integrity.

‘Integrity consulting’ was promoted for departments with poor integrity results to enhance their understanding of ethics and integrity systems.

In addition, the ‘Integrity Live Performance’ was held in collaboration with four public institutions in the Chungbuk Innovation City, where the headquarters of the Korea Gas Safety Corporation is located.

Breaking away from the existing standardized lecture form, it introduced a play with a high sensibility and maximized the educational effect through live streaming on YouTube.

At the same time, to further enhance the transparency of internal reporting, the reporting centers in three areas, including sexual harassment and violence, power abuse, and human rights violations, were unified.

The ‘Human Rights Center’ was integrated to protect the identity of the complainant and streamline the procedure.

In addition, the protection system for whistleblowers has been greatly strengthened by introducing a third-party proxy payment system for reporting bounties and operating an undisclosed corruption reporting counseling center.

It has also obtained the Compliance Management Certification (ISO37301) after being evaluated by the Korea Management Certification Institute that the compliance policy and risk response system that may occur in all business activities meets the global level and is being operated effectively.

In addition, he was awarded the Presidential Citation by an institution that contributed to the establishment of public service discipline for his efforts in safety inspection led by the Audit Office.

As a result of inspections of illegal high-pressure gas manufacturing sites, LPG filling sites, and illegal selling sites of unexamined gas products, 272 cases were discovered and the companies demanded early corrective action.

In addition, 28 business operators who violated the law contributed to securing public safety by filing complaints.

In this process, it was evaluated as an excellent case in that it supplemented the expertise of safety inspection, a special field, and strengthened the monitoring system for external general operators through close cooperation with relevant agencies and judicial and administrative agencies.
