A passenger recorded the incident from another aircraft at Gatwick Airport. Bosses then called in an entire baggage crew and demanded to know the culprit.

Menzies, who employed the handlers, and airline Wizz Air apologised to passengers last night and told The Sun it was an “isolated incident”.

The misconduct was not caught on CCTV footage, so the culprit could not be identified.

But yesterday the finger was pointed at one worker, who was escorted from the airport and faces the sack.

A source told The Sun: “The video has proved humiliating for Menzies.

“The ground handler was completely cavalier. Bosses could pinpoint the aircraft stand and flight, and grilled the entire team.

“It paints a terrible image of Menzies and Wizz Air. Action had to be taken.”

The no-frills airline, based in Hungary, told The Sun: “Wizz Air sincerely apologise for the treatment of passengers’ luggage in a recent video.

“An investigation has been launched to ensure it does not happen again.”
