General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife arrived in Havana and began their visit to Cuba

On the evening of September 25 local time (morning September 26 Vietnam time), General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly and a high-ranking delegation arrived at Jose Marti international airport in the capital La Habana, begins a State visit to Cuba.

The visit took place at the invitation of First Secretary, President of Cuba Miguel Diaz Canel Bermudez and his wife.

Welcoming General Secretary and President To Lam and his wife and the delegation at the airport were: Permanent Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba Roberto Morales Ojeda; Minister of the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces Alvaro Lopez Miera; Cuban Minister of the Interior Lazaro Alberto Alvarez Casas; Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba Emilio Lozada Garcia.

There was also Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Orlando Nicolas Hernandez Guillen and a number of officials from the Foreign Affairs Department and the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the Vietnamese side were Vietnamese Ambassador to Cuba Le Quang Long and officials of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cuba.

This is the first visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to Cuba in his capacity as General Secretary and President. Cuba is one of the first countries General Secretary and President To Lam visited.

The visit took place in the context that the two countries are preparing to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1960 – 2025). For nearly 65 years, the traditional relationship of solidarity, support and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Cuba has continuously been paid attention to, strengthened, promoted and developed in many fields.

Before the visit, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Head of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung said that the highest-level leaders of the two Parties and States will discuss and evaluate achievements and cooperation results. between Vietnam and Cuba in recent times.

The leaders of the two sides will propose directions to strengthen and improve the effectiveness of cooperation in all fields, bringing the comprehensive cooperation relationship to a new stage of increasingly substantial and sustainable development, for the benefit of the two sides. benefit of the two peoples.

General Secretary and President To Lam will hold talks and meet with key leaders of Cuba. In addition, General Secretary and President To Lam and the delegation will also offer flowers at the monuments of President Ho Chi Minh and Cuban national hero Jose Martí.

The delegation will visit a number of economic establishments, including cooperation and investment projects of Vietnamese enterprises; Meet with friendly friends and young generations of the two countries.
