Genesis Confirms Plans for Hybrid Models
Genesis Shifts Gears: Hybrid Models Coming Soon
Luxury automaker Genesis is expanding its lineup to include hybrid models, responding to evolving consumer demand for diverse powertrain options.
Genesis Global Director Mike Song confirmed the move last week, emphasizing that the brand remains committed to its electric vehicle (EV) strategy. However, the company recognizes the need to cater to a wider range of customer preferences, notably in markets where EV adoption is slower.
“We will continue to offer gasoline-powered vehicles, hybrid vehicles, and electric vehicles as long as customers desire them,” Song stated. “We will not decide our product plans; our customers will decide.”

This shift comes after Genesis initially announced plans to transition to an all-electric lineup by 2025.While the brandS GV60, GV70, and G80 EVs have garnered positive reception, the global EV market has experienced some softening, prompting Genesis to adopt a more flexible approach.
Currently, Genesis does not offer any hybrid models. However, the automaker can leverage Hyundai’s extensive hybrid technology, including plug-in hybrid options with significant electric range.
The introduction of hybrid models will broaden Genesis’s appeal, providing customers with more choices and potentially accelerating the brand’s growth in key markets.
