Genesis GV90: Luxury Electric SUV Features Pop-Up Cinematic OLED Display

Genesis GV90 Cinematic Display and Pleos Connect System

The GV90 serves as the first Hyundai Motor Group vehicle to feature the new extendable display technology alongside the Pleos Connect infotainment system. While driving, the infotainment screen measures 23.6 inches. Once the vehicle is parked, the screen expands to 24.6 inches at the push of a button to create the Cinematic Display.

Inho Yoon, designer and developer of the Pleos Connect system for the GV90, stated that modern automobiles are increasingly utilized for more than basic transportation. Electric vehicles function as mobile power banks, prompting Genesis to build an immersive entertainment environment. As Yoon explained, the goal was to “provide a highly immersive, movie theater-like experience.”

Interior Features and Sound System

When parked and extended, the system switches to Media Home mode. This mode allows occupants to access Netflix, live TV, and music streaming through third-party applications. To support the theater environment, Genesis equipped the cabin with a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen Premier 3D Sound System featuring Dolby Atmos.

Lee Min-ah, a senior researcher on the Infotainment UX Development Team who oversaw the UX design for Pleos Connect, noted that the driving interface prioritizes familiar smartphone interaction. Lee Min-ah stated, “I devoted considerable effort to designing the display’s app screen policies so that the experience of using navigation and other apps simultaneously could flow seamlessly.”

The GV90 layout includes a unique menu bar on each side of the screen with individual seat control buttons. The driver’s side manages navigation, vehicle functions, and climate control, while the passenger side handles apps and media. Gleo AI, an in-car companion, allows users to control vehicle functions and search for information or web news. A custom 25-inch Head-Up Display projects speed and navigation directions onto the windshield, while physical buttons remain positioned below the infotainment screen for climate and media control.

Dimensions, Battery, and Range Specs

Genesis will offer the GV90 in a Neolun variant featuring B-pillarless coach doors, as well as a standard variant with traditional swing doors. The SUV measures 208.1 inches long, 79.9 inches wide, and 71.5 inches tall with a 127.8-inch wheelbase. It operates on a 123.5 kWh battery, which is the largest capacity among Hyundai Motor electric vehicles. The seven-seater version delivers an expected range of approximately 310 miles, or 500 kilometers.
