Genesis Unveils GV80 Coupe: A Premium Luxury SUV with Dynamic and Bold Design

Genesis recently unveiled the GV80 Coupe, along with the partially modified GV80 model, at Genesis Suji in late September. The GV80 Coupe stands out as a premium luxury coupe-type SUV, combining luxurious details with a dynamic silhouette. This move by Genesis will allow them to enter the coupe-type SUV market and directly compete with established European premium brands. The GV80 Coupe offers several unique features that distinguish it from the basic GV80, making it an attractive choice for consumers considering a coupe-type SUV.

One of the standout features of the GV80 Coupe is its dynamic and bold coupe design, which reflects Genesis’ “dynamic elegance” design philosophy. The front grille features a double mesh structure, giving it a sophisticated look, while the smoother corner lines add to the overall sleekness of the design. The inclusion of active air flaps, extended air intakes, and bottom vents in the grill enhance engine cooling by optimizing airflow.

The GV80 Coupe’s distinctive low and gradual side profile immediately catches the eye, further accentuated by the addition of 20-inch and 22-inch wheels with unique spoke styles. The interior is designed to emphasize high braking performance, with monoblock calipers and a center-lowering rear spoiler. Twin twin mufflers complete the rear design of the GV80 Coupe.

In terms of interior layout, the GV80 Coupe offers a unique and spacious design. The D-cut steering wheel with two-tone colors and the carbon trim with a unique pattern contribute to the high-performance image of the vehicle. The coupe-specific pattern and stitching on the seats, as well as the metal pedals, further enhance the interior’s premium feel. Despite being a coupe-type SUV, the GV80 Coupe maximizes interior space through optimized engine room, chassis layout, and trunk packaging. The inclusion of a folding luggage shelf ensures ample space for storage. Additionally, the second row of seats can be reclined, providing a comfortable living space.

The GV80 Coupe offers various drive functions that enhance both performance and sensitivity. In addition to the 2.5 gasoline turbo and 3.5 gasoline turbo engines found in the basic model, the GV80 Coupe introduces a new 3.5 turbo gasoline 48V electric supercharger engine. This engine improves mid-to-low speed acceleration response by compressing air through a motor and supplying it to the engine. Specialized specifications and features, such as high-performance gauges for oil temperature and torque, as well as an active sound design that replicates the exhaust sound of a high-displacement sports coupe, further contribute to the unique driving experience of the GV80 Coupe.

In terms of practical driving, the GV80 Coupe offers features that enhance driving enjoyment. The vehicle is equipped with launch control for maximum acceleration performance and a Sports Plus mode for limit driving. The brake pedal response can be adjusted according to driver preference, adding flexibility to the driving experience. These features are available in the electric turbo 3.5 gasoline 48V supercharger model, which offers the highest driving performance.

Genesis plans to commence sales of the GV80 and GV80 Coupe on October 11. To showcase these vehicles, a special exhibition will be held at Genesis Suji from October 14th to 22nd.

The GV80 Coupe presents itself as a premium luxury coupe type SUV while expressing luxurious details and a dynamic silhouette at the same time. It is expected that they will enter the coupe-type SUV market pioneered by European premium brands and compete directly. In particular, the GV80 Coupe attracts the attention of consumers who consider a coupe-type SUV in several ways that distinguish it from the basic GV80.

Dynamic and bold coupe design

The GV80 Coupe features an exterior that maximizes dynamism based on the brand’s ‘dynamic elegance’ design philosophy. First, a radiator grill with a double mesh structure was placed on the front ridge grill. The corner lines were smoother than before to create a sophisticated image. Active air flaps, extended air intakes, and four vents at the bottom of the grill play a role in creating optimal airflow for engine room cooling.

The unique coupe-type design, with a low, gradual side profile, catches the eye. New 20-inch and 22-inch wheels were applied. Each wheel has a unique style that emphasizes spokes, and the interior appears to emphasize high braking performance with a monoblock caliper. The rear features a center-lowering rear spoiler and twin twin mufflers.

Indoor residence security with an optimized layout

The unique interior design of the GV80 Coupe is also characteristic. The D-cut steering features two-tone colors, and the high-performance image is emphasized with a unique pattern of carbon trim, seats with coupe-specific patterns and stitching, and metal pedals.

Interior space, which is considered a drawback of coupe type SUVs, has also been maximized. The engine room, chassis layout, and trunk package were optimized, and a folding luggage shelf was installed to ensure plenty of space and storage. In addition, the fact that living space in the second row has been achieved by applying the reclining function of the rear seat is something to be proud of.

Various drive functions maximize high performance and sensitivity

In addition to the 2.5 gasoline turbo and 3.5 gasoline turbo of the basic model, the GV80 Coupe has added a new 3.5 turbo gasoline 48V electric supercharger engine. By compressing air through the motor in the low range and supplying it to the engine, the highest torque point has been developed compared to the current 3.5 gasoline turbo. Through this, mid-to-low speed acceleration response has been improved.

A variety of specialist specifications have been applied to allow you to experience the unique sensibility of a high performance car. In addition to high-performance gauges showing oil temperature, torque, and turbo pressure, an active sound design was applied that reproduces the exhaust sound of a high-displacement sports coupe.

When it comes to practical driving, it also includes features that double the fun of driving. Launch control for drivers who want to test the vehicle’s acceleration performance to the maximum and Sports Plus mode, a driving mode specialized for limit driving, are installed. Flexible brakes were also used, which can adjust the brake pedal response depending on the driver’s preferences. This feature can be selected from the electric turbo 3.5 gasoline 48V supercharger model, which has the highest driving performance.

Genesis plans to start selling the GV80 and GV80 Coupe starting October 11. Before this, a special exhibition will be held at Genesis Suji from October 14th to 22nd.
