Georgia Volleyball Shines at Georgia Tech Spring Tournament

Georgia volleyball continued a successful spring campaign with two victories during a set of spring games hosted by Georgia Tech at the Zelnak Center in Atlanta.

The Bulldogs secured wins against South Florida and Kennesaw State, maintaining their momentum during the spring exhibition period.

Victory Over South Florida

Georgia began the day’s action with a match against South Florida at 9:30 a.m. The Bulldogs established early dominance, winning the first set 25-12.

Despite facing some setbacks due to missed blocks and costly serves, Georgia maintained control to win the second set 25-19.

The Bulldogs continued their efficiency in the third set, winning 25-10. The match extended into a fourth set, which Georgia won with a score of 25-22.

Match Against Kennesaw State

Immediately following the match with South Florida, Georgia faced the Kennesaw State Owls. This encounter served as a rematch of a game played in Athens the previous weekend.

Kennesaw State provided stronger competition, performing exceptionally well with their kills and serves. However, Georgia prevailed in the first set 25-21 and the second set 25-17.

The final set was played with approximately 15 minutes remaining in the allotted time, with Georgia winning 17-12 to conclude the day with a victory.

Schedule Adjustments and Future Matchups

The original schedule for the event included a 1:45 p.m. Game against Clemson, but that match was canceled.

As a result of the cancellation, Georgia is now scheduled to travel to Clemson, South Carolina, on April 11 to face the Tigers at 1 p.m.

Georgia is slated to play against the Yellow Jackets on April 18 in Athens, Georgia.

Context of the Georgia Tech Spring Classic

The event was part of the annual Georgia Tech Spring Classic. Georgia Tech’s own spring action included a scrimmage against the GT Men’s Club Team on March 19 and a series of matches on April 4 against Tennessee, Mississippi State, USF, and UVA.

Georgia Tech’s spring tournament featured games in O’Keefe Gymnasium and a final match at McCamish Pavilion. The Yellow Jackets enter this period following a 2025 season where they finished with a 16-14 overall record and an 11-9 ACC record, earning their sixth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.
