Gerry Hedberg, 78, of West Fargo, N.D., Passes Away at Fargo Care Facility on April 21, 2026

Gerry Lee Hedberg, age 78, passed away peacefully under hospice care on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, in Fargo, North Dakota.
Funeral services will take place in West Fargo on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. At West Funeral Home, with interment to follow at Parshall Cemetery on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. A luncheon will be held following the burial at the Parshall Fire Department.
Gerry was born on June 26, 1947, in Minot, North Dakota, to Addison and Doris (Edwardson) Hedberg. He was raised and educated in Parshall, North Dakota. Gerry furthered his education at NDSSS in Wahpeton, graduating with a degree in Diesel Mechanics and Auto Mechanics.
After graduation, he began his career with Butler. In 1978, Gerry joined Boring and Tunneling of America, working as a rock saw technician in the Houston, Texas area. In the summer of 1980, he returned to Parshall to farm alongside his father. He later served as a diesel mechanic for several companies in Minot.
During his tenure at Cenex in Rolla, Gerry began experiencing heart issues. He concluded his professional career at Swenson Equipment in Minot.
On March 1, 1975, Gerry was united in marriage to Marilyn Thompson. Their union was blessed with four children: Mandi, Lani, Cody, and Gerry Edward. Although they later divorced, Gerry remained devoted to his family.
Gerry took great pleasure in serving as the cook for Boy Scout Troop 416, forging enduring memories and friendships. He cherished his time at the lake, often found fishing in the early morning or towing children, neighbors, and friends tubing and skiing behind the boat. Annual elk hunting trips with close friends were a highlight in his life; as his family grew, these trips gradually transitioned to deer hunting expeditions in the Hettinger area, where he continued to create lasting memories with his children and grandchildren, as well as with William and Colleen Galbreth.
He was predeceased by his parents, Addison Hedberg and Doris Hedberg (Edwardson), and his brother Brent Hedberg. He is survived by his children: Mandi, Tim Lembcke of Mandan, ND, Lani Hedberg of Louisville, KY, Cody, Michelle Hedberg (West Fargo) and Gerry Edward Hedberg (Fargo); his grandchildren: Alexa, Mike Oien, Abby Lembcke (Brad Barnhardt), Maleah and Silas Hedberg; and his siblings: Randy Hedberg, Chery Hysjulien, Dee Dee Lampert, Rick, Andrea Hedberg and Edwardson.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 30th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the West Funeral Home & Life Tribute Center (321 Sheyenne St, West Fargo, ND 58078). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 30th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the West Funeral Home (321 Sheyenne St, West Fargo, ND 58078). A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 30th 2026 at 7:00 PM at the West Funeral Home & Life Tribute Center (321 Sheyenne St, West Fargo, ND 58078). A burial will be held on Saturday, May 2nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Parshall Cemetery (Parshall, ND 58770).
