Get Ready for Fun: Comfacauca Unveils Caña Dulce Leisure Center on November 1
A mega recreation, sports, environmental and cultural project for the enjoyment of the North Cauca region.
With an investment of 40,000 million pesos, the Cauca Family Compensation Fund built the first phase of the Caña Dulce Leisure Center, equivalent to the Aquatic Park, sports and social areas, one kilometer from Santander de Quilichao, on the Panamericana, on the straight to Cali.
This Friday, November 1, the Board of Directors and the administrative director of Comfacauca, Juan Cristóbal Velasco Cajiao, inaugurate the great leisure center Caña Dulce, which has raised great expectations for its innovative attractions and games, such as swimming pools, slides , lazy a river, a beach, artificial fields, sports fields, ecological paths and beautiful vegetation for the enjoyment of employees, their families and the community in general.
In 2015, the Comfacauca Administrative Directorate began to think about developing a large recreation and sports project for the north of the department that would benefit that large sector of the population.
For this bet, in 2017 and after a thorough property search, the Fund acquired a 61-hectare lot planted with sugar cane. In 2018, construction began on the main house, known as the Primary Leisure Unit, the existing pool and pergola area was rebuilt. A football field was given to the service, initial work so that employees and their families could enjoy that place at weekends. In the same way, the gardens were organised, the trees of the region were preserved and more than six thousand new species were planted, including native trees and fruits which contribute to the natural environment. A large nursery was built to support the decoration of Caña Dulce and other leisure centers in La Caja.

The Caja team worked so that the earthworks were done in 2021 in order to develop the first two phases of the project, which will start to be enjoyed in 2024 and which has created a special interest on behalf of workers, businessmen and citizens.

The first phase corresponds to the Aquatic Park, whose investment is equivalent to $ 34 billion, this is the first phase of the project, it offers a children’s pool, a family pool with three leisure slides, four extreme slides, a lazy river and green areas. Similarly, sports and social areas.

The thermal covers were produced by the Colombian company Metecno, whose factory is in the El Paraíso industrial park, in Santander de Quilichao. This factory builds the sandwich tile, a pioneer in the country for high temperature infrastructure.

In later stages, other entertainment developments are being considered, an area that is very dynamic, as well as hotel, housing and education, reinforcing itself as a reference center for the region, according to the head of the northern zone of Comfacauca.
