Sony Unveils Upgraded PlayStation 5 Pro with Enhanced Graphics and AI
(Central News Agency, Tokyo, 11th, Comprehensive Foreign News Report) Japanese video game console maker Sony has announced the launch of an upgraded version of its flagship PlayStation 5 Pro, offering better graphics and artificial intelligence (AI) in each unit. Priced at US$699.99 (approx. NT$22,498) with functions, it will go on sale on November 7.
The PS5 Pro boasts an upgraded graphics processor (GPU), which is 40% more powerful than a regular PS5 with a disc drive. This significant enhancement is expected to provide a smoother gaming experience for users.
According to Agence France-Presse, PS lead designer Marc Cerny showcased the PS5 Pro’s new features in a short new product launch video, highlighting the upgraded hardware’s ability to make gaming faster and smoother. The AI system is also designed to clean images, further enhancing the overall gaming experience.
Sony’s PS division has faced challenges this year, with PS5 sales not meeting targets. The division announced in February that it would lay off 900 people. Despite this, the company remains optimistic about the future of gaming and the potential of the PS5 Pro to drive sales.
Sony predicts PS5 sales will drop to 18 million units in the current fiscal year from 20.8 million units the previous year. The launch of the PS5 Pro is seen as a strategic move to revitalize sales and maintain the company’s position in the gaming market.
