Get Ready to Ride the Waves: Official Poster for WSL Corona Saquarema Pro 2024 Unleashed
Corona Saquarema Pro 2024: Official Poster Released
The World Surf League (WSL) has released the official poster for the Corona Saquarema Pro 2024, the defining stage of the Challenger Series, which will take place from October 12-20 at Itauna Beach in Saquarema (RJ). Created by artist Gustavo Pergoli, the poster is comic-inspired and highlights the vibrant colours of Brazil.
The poster depicts iconic surfing moments, featuring fan and athlete maneuvers, and also features the mascot Saqua, inspired by the region’s signature bird, the Socodorminhuco. “It’s a great honor to see my work associated with surfing,” Pergoli said, expressing his gratitude for the opportunity. “It’s a source of great pride for me to be able to show my work to people all over the world.”
Ivan Martino, President of WSL Latin America, emphasized the importance of supporting new talent and integrating art into surf culture. “WSL knows that investing in art and culture is a way to integrate the sport into the surf environment and lifestyle. Art is a form of cultural expression, and through our posters, we provide a space for diverse artists to express themselves,” the director said.
The Challenger Series provides surfers with a chance to advance to the Championship Tour, the elite of world surfing. Brazilian surfing stars such as Italo Pereira and Felipe Toledo, both champions of the Championship Tour, have already won the Saquarema stage.
