British boxing prospect Giorgio Visioli believes the public would be “shocked” if footage emerged of his sparring session with American star Curmel Moton. The unbeaten super-featherweight,a rising star in the boxing world, visited the United States in March, where he shared the ring with Moton.
Visioli’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, previously claimed that Visioli “smashed Moton to pieces” during their sparring. Moton, also undefeated, refuted Hearn’s version of events but expressed willingness to fight Visioli.
The sparring session took place during visioli’s trip to Las Vegas with his coach, Mark Tibbs, and gym-mate Johnny Fisher. While there, Visioli also sparred with Rolando Romero, fresh off his victory over Ryan Garcia.
Visioli, 22, boasts a professional record of seven wins, with six knockouts. Similarly, the 18-year-old Moton has an identical record, solidifying his status as a top boxing prospect. Moton’s most recent victory came against Frank Zaldivar at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
“Those comments came out of Eddie’s mouth, but it was great work between me and Curmel,” Visioli told BBC Sport. “The sparring was good though - it was my way all the time and he knows that for sure. when the footage gets leaked everyone will be shocked.”
Moton acknowledged the sparring session and Hearn’s comments. “Eddie Hearn’s been talking online but he’s doing his job being a promoter and trying to get his guy’s name out there more,” Moton told Pro Boxing Fans.
“His guy shared the ring with me and he’s seen his prospect. Everyone is talking about him right now and they’re claiming he whooped on me. They can say what they want to say but we both know how the sparring went, and if Eddie saw the footage then he shoudl be confident to set that fight up between us – I’m ready whenever they want to do it.”
What’s next
both Visioli and Moton appear eager to settle the score in a professional bout. “If he wants to fight then we can fight – I’ll fight anyone and if he wants to send the papers then send them,” Visioli said.
