Girish and The Chronicles,a hard rock band from India, recently captivated audiences on “America’s Got Talent” (AGT) with their unique sound. The band, known for frontman Girish pradhan’s remarkable vocal range and their heavy metal energy, delivered a memorable performance that earned them unanimous approval from the judges.
The band’s journey to AGT began after a video of Pradhan warming up his vocals at a Mahindra Independence Rock festival soundcheck went viral in November 2023. This caught the attention of an AGT producer, leading to their invitation to perform on the show’s 20th season in Pasadena.
girish and The Chronicles, featuring Pradhan, guitarist Suraz Sun, bassist Yogesh Pradhan, and drummer Nagen Nags, energized the stage with their rendition of Adele’s “Set Fire To The Rain.” Their performance was so compelling that all the judges—Simon Cowell, Sofia Vergara, Howie Mandel, and Mel B—rose to their feet.
pradhan noted that performing on a “wider stage” like AGT felt like the right move. The band has cultivated a strong following in Europe and Asia, but sought to introduce their music to a broader audience, particularly in the United States. He added that seeing Steel Panther perform on AGT previously inspired them, demonstrating that a rock band could succeed on a mainstream platform.
The band chose to perform a cover song, despite having a wealth of original material, to showcase their versatility while staying true to their rock roots. Pradhan explained that they felt reinterpreting a popular song through their unique lens would be exciting for the audience.
After 16 years of hard work, Girish and The Chronicles have risen to prominence in India’s rock scene, playing major festivals, opening for Guns N’ Roses, and touring Europe regularly. Pradhan sees their AGT performance, which has garnered over a million views on YouTube,as further validation of their dedication.
“We’ve always believed in staying true to who we are, and that’s exactly what we’re going to keep doing.Just taking it as it comes, while staying focused and ready for whatever lies ahead,” Pradhan said.
What’s next
