SANDNES, Norway – Gjert ⁣Ingebrigtsen, the father and former coach of Olympic medalist Jakob Ingebrigtsen, testified in court, addressing allegations of abuse and detailing strained family⁣ relationships. Ingebrigtsen faces criminal charges, which he denies, related to the alleged abuse of Jakob and another child.

During his⁤ testimony, Ingebrigtsen described feeling⁢ pressured by Jakob’s pursuit of olympic success. “I was told about ⁤how hopeless, useless, and informed I am,” Ingebrigtsen said, recalling the period leading up to the 2021 Olympics. “There is⁣ one who decides if he does ⁤not‍ win the Olympics then his life is more or less⁤ unsuccessful.” He added that he ⁤was unaware of the specific claims made ⁤in a Chronicle article from october 2023.

“Picking out relevant events against‍ the indictment would like a number of negative things against my children. But I am extremely fond of my children,” Gjert Ingebrigtsen stated, maintaining his innocence. “Life with the children has given us far⁤ more joy than grief. There is no bitterness. We make all⁤ our choices,” he added.

Henrik’s Return Home

Turning to⁣ Henrik Ingebrigtsen, ⁢the eldest ‍of the running brothers, Gjert described him as possessing ⁢an intense competitive spirit and a strong ego.He suggested Henrik believed he should have received preferential treatment from their father before the ⁤Rio de Janeiro Olympics.

Gjert Ingebrigtsen stated his concern was for henrik’s well-being. “There is a dad who wants you⁤ to feel better ⁢and not ⁣wake up every day and hurt,” he said.

He also noted that Henrik and his wife moved in with him while⁤ their house was being⁤ sold, residing there until December⁢ 2021. The family conflict, ⁤according to⁤ Gjert, began the‍ following ‍month.

Dispute Over Stock⁢ Sales

Following the⁣ onset of the‍ family conflict, Gjert Ingebrigtsen said that Henrik demanded⁢ he sell his shares in their joint family company, then named “Run Fast.”

He stated that Jakob had⁢ received his shares as a ⁣gift ⁢from him‍ and his brothers when he turned 18. The company was established around 2015 or 2016, according to Gjert.

Tho,Gjert believed he was entitled to compensation. “It’s the last time I⁤ see Henrik, or talk to Henrik,” he said.

Describing Filip as an “extremely nice ⁣guy,” Gjert expressed surprise at Filip’s inclusion in the chronicle detailing⁣ the⁤ violence‍ allegations.He refuted claims⁣ that he bullied his son⁣ Martin, as Jakob Ingebrigtsen testified.
