Kansas City Men’s Soccer Visits St. Thomas for First Road Conference Match

The Kansas City men’s soccer team travels to Minnesota to face the University of St. Thomas for the squad’s first road conference match of the season. Kansas City enters the fixture with a 6-1-2 overall record and a 1-0-0 mark in Summit League play.

The team climbed to No. 3 in the latest TopDrawerSoccer National Rankings, moving up one spot from the previous week. The Roos also advanced from No. 8 to No. 5 in the United Soccer Coaches poll following a 3-1 win over Oral Roberts at Durwood Soccer Stadium.

Mark Ramarola paced the Kansas City attack in the conference opener by scoring twice, including a strike from outside the box. Raphael Kistmann also added a goal in his return to the lineup after missing two matches. Ramarola’s multi-goal game pulled him into a three-way tie for the team lead with Kistmann and Pedro Beunza, as all three players share four goals on the season.

Kansas City Leads Summit League in Nine Categories

Kansas City ranks among the most prolific offensive units in men’s soccer. The Roos sit fourth nationally in assists per game at 3.2 and rank sixth in total assists with 29.

Within the Summit League, the squad holds the top spot in nine distinct statistical categories. Those categories include shutout percentage, goals-against average, goal differential, corner kicks per game, penalty kicks, points per game, shots per game, win percentage, and total assists.

St. Thomas Hosts with 4-4-2 Overall Record

The University of St. Thomas hosts the match holding a 4-4-2 overall record after defeating Utah Tech 2-1 on the road in its previous outing. Head coach Jon Lowery leads the Thommies in his 15th season at the institution and his 18th overall year as a head coach. St. Thomas finished the previous season with a 7-5-5 record and a 1-3-2 mark in Summit League competition.

Eight different players have also contributed an assist, while the defense has surrendered 12 goals.

Kansas City holds a 4-2-1 edge in the all-time series against St. Thomas. When playing in St. Paul, Minnesota, the historical matchup stands even at 1-1-1. The Roos secured a 3-1 victory over the Thommies at Durwood Stadium last season.
