Detroit – General Motors is expanding its Corvette lineup with the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X, a high-performance hybrid variant. ‍The Detroit automaker revealed‍ Tuesday that this “hypercar” builds upon⁢ the Corvette E-Ray hybrid, offering enhanced performance through electrification technologies.

Megan Dalley, Corvette⁢ marketing manager, said the ZR1X is the most advanced Corvette ever produced. ⁢She added that ‍it demonstrates the capabilities of Corvette and American supercars.

The corvette ZR1X boasts a top speed of 233 mph and accelerates from 0-60 mph in under two seconds, according to GM. Its LT7 twin-turbo V-8 engine,shared with other ZR1 models,delivers 1,064⁣ horsepower‍ and 828 foot-pounds of ⁤torque. An electric axle adds all-wheel drive, contributing ‍an⁤ additional‍ 186 horsepower and 145 foot-pounds of torque to the ZR1X’s performance.

Corvette chief‍ engineer Josh‍ Holder said the ZR1X combines performance, electrification, and all-wheel drive to enhance the ZR1. He added that it merges learnings from the ZR1 and E-Ray to create an extraordinary driving⁣ experience.

The ZR1X brings the Corvette lineup to five models, its broadest since 1953. This is part of GM’s plan for a profitable Corvette family, ranging from the‍ Corvette Stingray to the ZR1.

Dalley said Corvette‍ is a very profitable vehicle for GM, and it ⁢continues to be the pinnacle of performance.

GM previously announced plans for an all-electric Corvette. The status of those plans remains unclear⁤ amid slower electric vehicle adoption.A Corvette SUV has also been under consideration.

GM will announce pricing⁢ for the corvette ZR1X closer to its dealership ⁤arrival later this year.⁣ It will be available as a convertible or coupe.⁣ the coupe features a rear split⁣ window, a nod to the 1963 Corvette.

All Corvettes are produced at ‍GM’s assembly plant in Bowling green, Ky.
