Trump Safe After Assassination Attempt at Golf Club

08:24 The FBI reported that the US Secret Service foiled an assassination attempt on former President and Republican presidential candidate Trump in West Palm Beach, Florida. Trump is safe, and the suspect has been caught.

The incident occurred near the Trump National Golf Club at 13:30 local time, when Trump was playing golf. Secret Service agents saw a suspect pointing a gun at Trump from the stadium fence and immediately opened fire to stop him. The suspect then drove off and was later arrested in nearby Martin County. No one was injured in the incident.

Rick Bradshaw, the police chief of Palm Beach County, Florida, stated that the suspect was hiding in the bushes about 400 meters away from Trump. The FBI is investigating the suspected assassination attempt.

The Trump campaign issued a statement saying Trump was in safe condition. Trump himself said, “I’m safe and well!”

The President of the United States Biden and the Vice President and Democratic presidential candidate Harris have been briefed on the event. Harris posted on social media that “violence has no market in America.”

This is not the first time Trump has been the target of an assassination attempt. On July 13 this year, Trump suffered an “assassination attempt” at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Trump was injured by a bullet in his right ear, and one spectator died, while two other spectators were seriously injured.
